Many resident communities have common spaces, but what makes them the most functional for residents?
Purpose
Each common space should have a purpose. Whether its a fitness center, movie theater, study room, or multipurpose room-- there should be a dedicated function for each space that your community shares with residents. By having a set purpose, you can better equip the space for that use.
Functionality
A community space is no good if its not functional. Study spaces should have computers and printers, multipurpose rooms should have games and flexible seating, fitness centers should have ample equipment, etc... Be sure that any community space you plan to implement can be maintained regularly.
Usage
If you notice that a certain common space is not being used by residents, look for ways that you could use that space more efficiently. Perhaps set up a poll at the front desk and allow residents to suggest other options or ideas.
